After a long autumn, the Midget A1 team is heating up just in time for winter.
The boys knocked off Cloverdale A2, 9-5 last weekend to extend its winning streak to four games – the only wins they’ve mustered all season.
During the streak, Burnaby has outscored its opponents 27-14. In its previous 10 games, the team had only scored 16 goals. In addition to the victories, the team is also staying out of the penalty box for the first time all year. They’ve picked up three of four sportsmanship points during their streak.
Meanwhile, the Midget A2 team was unable to build on the momentum of its best game of the season, last week. After a convincing 5-1 win over NSWC, the boys lost 4-2 against Chilliwack A2 and 3-1 to Aldergrove two days later.
The losses bring the team’s record down to 2-12 and leave them all alone in the basement of Tier 4. It’s a frustrating situation for coach Riaz Noornai, who has accused his players of not playing up to their potential all season before the win over NSWC. |
