On the weekend of Oct. 2 to 4, the Penticton Ironman Midget AAA hockey team played host to their annual Ice Breaker Tournament.
The event was attended by ten teams from the Okanagan Valley and the Lower Mainland.
Teams attending the tournament included Port Coquitlam, Pursuit of Excellence (Kelowna), North Delta, Hollyburn, Westside, North Shore Winter Club, Vernon, Okanagan Hockey Academy, Vancouver, and Penticton.
The tournament was eventually won by the Penticton Midget AAA team. They defeated the Hollyburn Huskies in the final game, 7-2.
The Penticton Midget team was led by a high-powered offence and a very stingy defence.
Penticton outscored their opposition 44-13 over the course of five games.
In their first game, Penticton defeated North Delta, 11-0.
Penticton defeated Vancouver in their second game, 12-3.
In their third game, Penticton defeated Port Coquitlam, 6-5.
They defeated Vernon 8-3 in their fourth game.
The team finished up the tournament with a 7-2 win over Hollyburn in the final.
Penticton Ironman Midget AAA is made up of seven players born in 1992, seven players born in 1993, and five 1994-born first-year players.
The team will play their regular season in the Tier 1 Okanagan loop with Kamloops, Kelowna, Vernon, Westside, Pursuit of Excellence, and Okanagan Hockey Academy.
The team is coached by a stellar coaching staff led by former Junior hockey coach, Ken Law.
