2010 Male U17 BC Cup
100 Mile House has been selected as the host for the 2010 Male Under 17 BC Cup. The 2010 Male U17 BC Cup will be held at the South Cariboo Recreation Centre from April 29 – May 2, 2010.
Over 3,000 players are eligible for participation at the U17 district camps and are evaluated throughout the season, a process coordinated by BC Hockey district evaluators. Forty-six (46) players from each district will be invited by the District Evaluators, to attend their District Camps. In total 276 players will be invited to attend six (6) District Camps across BC, March 26-28, 2010. The players must be born in 1994, reside in BC and be male.
The BC Hockey Male Under 17 High Performance Program is an introduction to International High Performance Hockey which involves a series of short term camps and competitions just as our national teams are exposed to it at a higher level. In addition, the Under 17 program is a pre-cursor to the well-established Hockey Canada Program of Excellence, consisting Canada’s Under 18, World Junior and Men’s National Teams.
2010 Male U16 BC Cup
Prince George has been selected as the host for the 2010 Male Under 16 BC Cup. The Male U16 BC Cup will be held April 15-18, 2010 at the CN Centre.
Open tryouts will occur from March 19-21, 2010 in eight (8) designated zones throughout the Branch. The players will be evaluated, and eight (8) teams will be selected following these tryouts to compete in the 2010 Male U16 BC Cup.
The players attending the 2010 Male U16 BC Cup will be eligible to be selected to the 2011 Canada Winter Games team. The 2011 Canada Winter Games will be held in Halifax, Nova Scotia from February 11-27, 2011. Team BC will be led by head coach Russ Weber.
The BC Hockey Male High Performance Program has been designed to instruct and prepare the players for future opportunities in the High Performance Program. The Male Under 16 BC Cup will host the most talented 15 year old players in BC, and prepare the players for the next step in their developmental process.
2010 Female U18 BC Cup
Cowichan Valley has been selected as the host for the 2010 Female U18 BC Cup. The Female U18 BC Cup will be held April 22-25, 2010 at the Island Savings Centre.
The BC Hockey U18 level is the final step in the BC Hockey Female High Performance program and the athletes in attendance at the camp represent the best BC has to offer in that age group. Many have progressed through the U16 program where they were introduced to training techniques and expectations that they have carried forward to the U18 level. The U18 championship is also the first step in the Hockey Canada Program of Excellence. Athletes will be evaluated in location for possible inclusion in further Hockey Canada programming. |
