The Merritt Centennials kept their recent hot streak going on home ice Saturday night, scoring a pair of goals in each period en route to a 6-1 victory over the Williams Lake Timberwolves.
Stephen Wall put the Centennials on the board at the 4:30 mark of the first period, and the home side went up by a pair later in the frame when Colton Sobchak converted a Dustin Johnson feed for a power-play marker.
It was much of the same in the second period, as Johnson and Mitch Jones continued the offensive push for Merritt. Ryan Stanimir put Williams Lake on the board late in the frame with a shorthanded effort, but goals from Alexander MacMillan and Andrew Pickering in the final 20 minutes wrapped up the two points for the Cents.
Jones and MacMillan each finished the night with four points for Merritt, while Johnson chipped in a goal and two assists. Keith Hamilton picked up the win in net with a 22-save effort, while Evan Dauenhauer was kept busy by 49 shots -- including 21 in the third period.
The Centennials are back in action on Sunday when they travel to Westside to face the Warriors, while Timberwolves continue what amounts to a seven-game road trip on Friday with a visit to Penticton.
