The Alberni Valley Bulldogs have announced that forward Sam Mitchell will serve as the team's Captain for the 2009/10 season.
Mitchell, 19, is entering his second season in Alberni Valley. He played 42 games with the Bulldogs in 2008/09, scoring three goals and adding six assists to go along with 38 penalty minutes.
"Sam has proven to be a leader on and off the ice," Bulldogs head coach and general manager Nolan Graham says. "His work ethic, determination and competitive attitude is infectious with his teammates."
"I believe Sam has the values, beliefs, and the attitude to be a solid leader and a positive role model for his teammates. He understands the commitment that is necessary to achieve success."
The Bulldogs are coming off a pair of home ice wins over Cowichan Valley and Victoria and currently sit tied for fourth in the BCHL's Coastal Conference with four points.
